Florida is a 2018 model Dutch Harness mare standing 15.2 hands high and growing. We expect her to mature in the 16-16.2hh range. This young mare is absolutely full of talent and promise. She is a spectacular mover with a quiet attitude and sensible mind. We do not push young horses to have big, fancy movement, but this girl has it! She has a solid foundation put on her and will be a safe and simple horse to finish off as she grows! This is one of Caleb’s favorites.
In the ring, Florida is one of the simplest youngsters ever to ride. She doesn’t have a naughty bone in her body and will happily do whatever is asked of her. Florida will walk, trot, and canter on a loose rein and has fantastic brakes. She is as safe and quiet as you could ever ask for, and with continued training will be a quality and reliable horse with show stopping movement. She is even gentle and quiet enough to put the kids on for a pony ride. Florida doesn’t get worked up by anything happening in or out of the ring. She wants to please her rider, and with how easy she was to bring along she does just that.
Off property, Florida has the most miles. Once we do all of our groundwork with young horses, we like to take them out and about as much as possible. They get to see exciting new places and things in a stress free manner. All they need to do is follow their buddies along the trail! Florida was happy to cross streams, go in the lake, cross bridges, and will both lead and follow on the trails. We couldn’t find anything that bothered her on our travels. Florida is relaxed and happy to be exploring and seeing the countryside. This pretty lady is a trail horse extraordinaire in the making.
In the barn, Florida is polite and easy to handle. She stands great on the crossties to be groomed, bathed, tacked, and clipped. She enjoys attention and being groomed. She is used to dogs, kids, and farm animals running about and has no cares. Florida is the same whether she is living in or out, and is turned out in a mixed herd of mares and geldings. She does not act mare-ish, and gets along well with everyone.
This young mare has the world in front of her with everything going for her. She has a great foundation and will be easy to bring along as she grows. All of the hard work is done, and we are proud to have given this mare all of the basics to be successful in any discipline. Florida is simple enough to be worked and ridden by a junior or amateur. With any youngster, we always recommend having a professional to help along the way. We are excited to see what amazing things this stunning mare will accomplish in the future! This is one we wish we could clone.
