“Gatsby” - For Sale
16 hands : 3 year old : Percheron/Thoroughbred : Gelding
Gatsby is a 3 year old Percheron/Thoroughbred gelding standing 16 hands high. Gatsby may be one of our all time favorite horses; meet him, and you will see why. It is impossible to not fall in love with this teddy bear of a horse. He has the sweetest personality, slow and comfortable gaits, and is naturally quiet and sensible in every situation. Gatsby is one in a million; he has the attitude and brains of a 20 year old schoolmaster, and is steadier and safer than almost any other horse. You cannot go wrong with this guy. He is simply a treasure.
In the ring, Gatsby is as simple as they come. At his age we haven’t yet started working on collection or lateral work, but he will be a great student as he learns quickly and always has a good attitude. He is naturally a quiet and easygoing guy. Gatsby will never go faster than you ask and will do whatever is asked of him. He is on track to be the greatest schoolmaster out there. We cannot explain how easy and safe this guy is. He will ride bareback, on the buckle, you could even ride him backwards and get the job done. Even at his young age, he is extremely trustworthy and tolerant of anything and everything we have thrown his way. We have popped him over some crossrails in the ring, and as you can see in his video, he will be a fantastically brave and balanced jumper when he grows up.
Off property, Gatsby is up for anything. He has a lot of trail miles as we like to get our young horses out and about as much as possible. He will lead, follow, or go in the middle of the pack. This horse is so laid back that even if the rest of the group goes galloping off, Gatsby will not have a single care. He is brave and honest and will cross any and every obstacle along the way including water, logs, bridges and more. Gatsby is safe enough for children, husbands, and guests on the trail.
In the barn, Gatsby is a huge love bug. He will happily cuddle you all day long, and will even fall asleep on the crossties if you groom him long enough. He stands to be groomed, tacked, and clipped. Gatsby is great with kids, dogs and other farm animals. Gatsby is perfectly content being in his stall or living in the pasture. It makes no difference to him whether he is ridden every day or once a week. Gatsby gets along well with both mares and geldings and causes no issues in the herd.
We have nothing but great things to say about this handsome guy. If we could clone him a million times, we definitely would. To put into perspective how incredibly special he is... most horses we need to train and work with to become as desensitized as they are, but with Gatsby it was all him. He required zero preparation and training to be this care free and quiet. He will only continue to get better with age. Aside from his gentle nature, he has a solid basis in the arena, and will be safe and simple for almost any rider to bring along. He is comfortable, quiet, and handsome as they come.
