Spice is a 6 year old Percheron/Morgan mare standing 15.3 hands high. We have so many great things to say about this beautiful mare. Spice has a personality sweeter than sugar itself, and just wants to be loved and doted on all day. She is confident and fearless. Spice is a great size—not too tall—and built like a brick house, so she both takes up the leg and can carry a bigger sized ride. She is athletic in the arena and is brave and honest over fences. On the trails she is steady and slow as ever. A perfect choice if you want to relax and enjoy the sights on the trails, and also have a sporty enough horse in the arena that can also be competitive in the show ring.
In the ring, Spice has a great work ethic and enjoys having a job. She has three comfortable gaits and is naturally round and likes to work on the bit. She has been started on the basics of dressage and will be very simple to move up the levels. Spice is a brave jumper and has been started over small courses. She has been schooled up to 3’ and always has square knees and an honest attitude over fences. Spice aims to please and listens well to commands. She does have a work minded attitude in the ring. She is not a push ride and will never complain about putting in a day’s work. She knows the difference between riders and will take it slow while doing a walk/trot fun ride with a guest, and turns on work mode when it’s time for a dressage or jump school.
Off property, Spice switches off work mode and turns into a steady eddy trail horse. You can go on an entire trail ride without ever needing to touch the reins. She is extremely brave and will lead the pack anywhere you’d like to go. She crosses water, bridges, roads, and everything in between. Spice is happy leading, following, or riding alone. She has been on beach rides, camping trips, hunter paces, and is always brave, sturdy, and reliable!
In the barn, Spice is a love. She adores people and will take any and all attention she can get. You can often see her getting kisses and scratches from everyone who walks by. She loves being groomed and will love you the second you give her attention. She has a silly personality. She will pick things up off of tack boxes, grab the tarp in her mouth and play with it. She always tries to give kisses to people passing by her. Spice is happy living inside or out, and is turned out with geldings and other mares with no issue.
We love this mares personality, athleticism, and demeanor. Spice has a great brain and aims to please. Out on the trails she is simple, steady, and relaxing. She is built to work and knows she has a job in the arena, so we do not recommend her for small children or extremely timid riders. Spice has no fear. She is self confident and that attitude rubs off on her rider! There is no mountain too big or river too deep for her. She aims to please and will do anything you ask of her in exchange for your love and affection. Here’s a hard to find grey crossbred mare with everything you could hope you.
