“Traveler” - SOLD

Traveler is a 15 year old Spotted Draft/Morgan gelding standing 16 hands high. He has been in our family for 12 years and has done everything including carriage rides, trails with every member of the family, given “pony rides” to guests and friends, and is great to have around for the kids. He is absolutely safe and steady for ANY level rider. We always say, if you can’t stay on this horse you probably shouldn’t ever ride one again. He is the same horse if ridden every day or once a month. Traveler is gentle as a lamb and loves attention. He is a gentleman both in the saddle and on the ground and will happily do whatever is asked of him. Traveler will surely make an outstanding addition to anyone’s family and will create memories that last a lifetime.
In the ring, Traveler hasn’t done much more than lead the little ones around and the occasional walk/trot lesson with larger beginner riders (adults and special needs riders) He does well with being led and with side walkers. He is a big guy, so getting him to canter in the arena is not the easiest of tasks. But out on the trails or in an open field he will pick it up with enough encouragement! Traveler has been such a safe and steady guy, that we intentionally haven’t put any buttons on him to keep him unbothered by flailing children, wobbly adults, and nervous first timers. He listens extremely well to voice commands and has great brakes.
Off property, Traveler has most of his miles. We have literally ridden this horse all through town, through the drive thrus, to the gas station, and the kids even hop on bareback and take themselves to a friends to go play. Traveler is completely traffic safe, and is unbothered by the world. Nothing phases him and he will always take you safely to your destination. Traveler has also been on hundreds of trail rides and hunter paces. He enjoys splashing in the water, and is great for giving young horses who follow a confidence boost. Absolutely anyone can ride this guy on the trails; he knows and loves his job and will never complain when he gets to go exploring!
In the barn, Traveler is referred to as the teddy bear of horses. If you want a fluffy, lovable, best friend of a horse, Traveler is your guy. He stands like a statue for all of the love, grooming, bathing, and attention he gets here. He is the perfect gentleman in the crossties and never gets worked up or excited by the chaos that is sometimes going on in a busy barn. Traveler is content living inside or out, and gets turned out with mares and geldings. This is the type of horse that can be ridden every day or once a month and be the same horse every time. He is handled by children, grandparents, and non-horsey people and never puts a hoof out of place.
Under harness, Traveler is very experienced. He has mostly been driven in a team, but will also drive single, or pull a sleigh. He is used to extremely busy roads, heavy traffic, and being around large groups of people as he has been used for our families carriage ride business as well. He loves the attention from all of the guests and does not have a care in the world from the excitement.
Traveler is a truly special horse that we are very sad to part with. Unfortunately we are downsizing our personal herd and would love to see him be utilized and loved by another family. We cannot stress enough how safe and sturdy this big guy is! If you missed out on safe family horses like Daisy or General, don’t miss out on Traveler too.
