Valentino is a 4 year old Dutch Harness gelding standing 16.2 hands high. This handsome guy is ready to head off in any direction, although we have a feeling he may end up in a dressage arena! Valentino has the most comfortable, easy to sit gaits we have ever ridden. Once you start cantering you may never want to stop! Valentino is happy working in or out of the arena, and enjoys trail rides, hunter paces, and hacking around the property. He is a straightforward horse with a solid foundation and good brain.
In the ring, Valentino is simple enough for an amateur or junior - and likes a rider with soft hands. He has great brakes, listens well to voice commands, easily works into a frame or rides on a loose rein. He is the perfect medium of whoa and go. He likes to work but is in no great hurry. He has been started over some cross rails and small jumps in the ring and has jumped some coupes and walls while out on trail rides. Valentino will pick up both leads and is being started on lead changes.
Off property, Valentino is easy to load up and hit the trails. He will lead, follow, or ride in the middle of the pack. He greatly enjoys the water. He will go for a swim in the lake, cross any creek, or cool off in the river any day. He is safe to ride along roads with traffic, over bridges, through tunnels, and everywhere in between. We like to do more trail riding and hacking out with our youngsters more than anything else. They see many different things and places, which keeps them happy and gives them more experience than any arena could!
In the barn, Valentino is great to work with. He stands on the crossties to be groomed, washed, and tacked. He is used to dogs and children around him and does not mind one bit. He is good to clip and braid, and the loves attention. Valentino is happy living inside or out. When turned out, he goes in a mixed herd of mares and geldings. He keeps to himself, never causes trouble, and is on the lower end of the pecking order.
Under harness, Valentino is ready to work. He has been driven on busy roads, to the drive-thru, to the grocery store, and everywhere in between. Valentino will go through tunnels, over bridges, and wait patiently at stoplights and stop signs. He is a breeze to hitch and unhitch as well. He moves on with a work ethic under harness as he should.
Valentino is ready to take his next person in any direction. Whether you want to train for dressage, eventing, jumping, or just enjoy a reliable trail partner - Valentino is happy to do the job.
