"Winnie” - For Sale
14.3 hands : 12 year old : Morgan : Mare
This mare is something special! Winnie is a twelve year old, 14.3 hand, Morgan, Mare. We’ve had this pretty lady since last fall, and we have gotten to know her very well. She’s sweet, reliable, and safe. She came to us in foal, and she had a beautiful colt with no complications this past spring! Winnie is truly a jack of all trades. She will ride, drive, hack out, jump, give pony rides, and she even pulls the sleigh. If you need a solid horse in the barn that’s the same horse every time you pull her out- Winnie’s that girl.
On the trail, Winnie is a comfortable and dependable ride to take out. She will walk out on the buckle, and in the front or the back of the group. This girl is pretty unflappable, and one we fully trust to take guests and less experienced people out on. She’s careful with her feet, takes care of her rider, and can take a joke. You can hang all over her, sit backwards on her, slide off her butt, and she will stand patiently the whole time. She will pop over logs, go through bridges, canter through the open field, cross the creek, ride bareback, and go swimming in the lake. Take her on a hunter pace or a paper chase, she’s the kind of horse you could ride all day long and not get sick of.
Under harness, Winnie is very well broke to drive. She will drive single or double to different equipment and farm machinery. She’s simple to drive, light in the hands, and responsive to voice cues. She’s a great one to pull out for a leisurely Sunday drive, but will also pick up and go when she’s asked. Last winter she even pulled the sleigh through the snow, and she had fun doing it!
In the ring, Winnie has now been back in work for several months since having her foal. She didn’t miss a beat coming back into work, and it was like she never had time off! She has a comfortable walk, trot, and canter. She’s learning to be bendy, move off of leg, and use her top line. She has one of the best canters in the barn, and she is the perfect in between of being a push ride, and still having a motor when asked. She will stop on a dime with a simple “whoa” or deep seat. She has given lead line rides to the kids, and is always patient and sweet. She will pop over the jumps, and she is very adorable doing it. She’s been doing some simple combination jumps and impressing us with her abilities. She’s been out XC schooling, and was brave and willing to all the jumps.
In the barn, Winnie stands on the cross ties to groom, tack up, and bath. She’s easy to handle in every way, and she’s always behaved for the farrier and dentist. She can go out with other mares and geldings in the field. She has no bad stall habits and is a very easy keeper. We have done a lot of desensitization work with Winnie. The video speaks for itself! We all have a soft spot for this mare, she has become a staple in the barn and will be missed when she goes. She is one of a kind, and one you can’t replace.
Winnie is UTD on shots, farrier, dentist, deworming and coggins.
